November 6, 2026Stunning Danish Mid Century Lounge Chair By Arne Vodder
€2,950.00
A superb and increasingly difficult-to-find example of Danish mid-century design, this exceptional FD164 reclining lounge chair and matching ottoman were designed by the internationally celebrated, award-winning Danish designer Arne Vodder and manufactured by the prestigious furniture makers France & Daverkosen in Denmark.
The FD164 is a beautifully considered design, combining elegant proportions, exceptional craftsmanship and remarkable comfort. Its ingenious reclining mechanism allows the chair to be adjusted into three separate reclining positions, making it as practical and comfortable today as when originally conceived.
The sculpted timber armrests, beautifully tapered legs and exposed architectural framework to the rear are particularly attractive features. The matching ottoman complements the chair perfectly, creating an exceptionally comfortable and visually refined combination.
Of particular significance are the three original manufacturer’s markings. The chair retains two original France & Daverkosen gold stamps, located on the inside of both the left and right stretchers, together with its original CADO metal plaque. These markings provide important confirmation of the chair’s authenticity and provenance.
Both pieces have been professionally restored and newly upholstered in luxurious, high-end golden velvet, beautifully contrasting with the rich warmth of the timber framework.
An outstanding and highly collectible example of Arne Vodder’s celebrated work, the FD164 represents the very best of Danish furniture design from this remarkable period.
